Fun with Forensics (FUNRENSICS) presents a unique opportunity for these students to learn and get exposed to a field they know little or nothing about in a fun way. The uniqueness of going through a hypothetical crime scene, collecting samples, and testing them through molecular biology techniques for the purpose of criminal justice is an experience that is life-changing.

By the end of this workshop, students are expected to have mastered the following skills related to DNA Science and Genomics: 1) Sample Collection and Metadata Annotation; 2) Collecting specimens from crime scenes and documentation; photography; 3) DNA Extraction and Isolation; 4) Polymerase Chain Reaction; 5) Gel Electrophoresis; 6) Next Generation Sequencing; 7) DNA Fingerprinting analysis and crime detection studies
