In a bold and refreshing celebration of STEM knowledge, critical thinking, and science communication, DNALC Nigeria has launched the Science Brainwave Challenge , a thrilling radio and online competition that is redefining science engagement in Nigeria. Broadcast live every Saturday on Godfrey Okoye University Radio 106.9FM by 11:05 am, and simultaneously streamed on the DNALC Nigeria Facebook page and YouTube channel, this initiative has quickly captured the hearts of students, educators, and science enthusiasts alike.

Powered by DNALC Nigeria – A Force in STEM Education

As the Nigerian affiliate of the globally renowned DNA Learning Center, Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory, New York, DNALC Nigeria continues to make innovative strides in expanding molecular biology, genetics, and biotechnology literacy in West Africa. Located in the serene campus of Godfrey Okoye University, Ugwuomu Nike, Enugu, the Centre is not only a training ground for future scientists, but also a communication powerhouse for science development.

Science Brainwave is the latest brainchild in this mission, a competition designed to reward knowledge, speed, and smart thinking across biology, chemistry, physics, and general science. More than just a quiz, it’s a platform that nurtures confidence, celebrates excellence, and gives voice to the new generation of Nigerian STEM minds.

How It Works

Each week, contestants face a rapid-fire science quiz — 20 questions, only 2 seconds per answer. With a point for every correct response, contestants who answer at least 5 correctly become weekly winners and qualify for the grand finale, where prizes and prestige await.

The challenge is hosted with energy and flair, creating an electrifying science radio experience every Saturday morning. From the studio of 106.9FM, it reaches thousands across the airwaves and many more through digital streaming, bringing science closer to everyday people.

Multi-Platform, Multi-Impact

Science Brainwave isn’t just a radio show. By going live on Facebook and YouTube via DNALC Nigeria, it becomes a multi-platform experience. Students in schools, parents at home, and educators in labs can all tune in, interact, and cheer for their favorite participants in real-time.

It’s radio science reimagined, fun, competitive, educational, and above all, transformative.

A Vision Beyond the Airwaves

The Science Brainwave Challenge is more than a competition, it is a movement. It aligns with DNALC Nigeria’s broader goals: to democratize science, spark lifelong curiosity, and empower young Nigerians with the tools to thrive in a knowledge-driven world.

It also highlights the power of science communication, not just in laboratories or classrooms, but through radio mics, Facebook streams, and YouTube channels. In a country where scientific literacy needs a creative boost, Science Brainwave is proving that learning can be fast, fun, and widely accessible.

Tune in this Saturday at 11:05am on 106.9FM GOUNI Radio. Watch it live on DNALC Nigeria’s Facebook and YouTube pages. Be inspired, be informed, be transformed.
